Why Insurance Professionals Love Their Careers

Thousands of professionals helped spread the word about risk management and insurance careers this past February during the first annual Insurance Careers Month, an event that united the industry around its important and rewarding career opportunities.

Several organizations partnered to organize the event—including MyPath, Hamilton Insurance, PCI, InVESTThe Jacobson Group and Valen Analytics—and hundreds of other companies supported the effort in some capacity. Overall, the message that insurance offers the career trifecta of stable, rewarding and limitless reached millions of people.

“Helping people when they didn’t even know they needed it is what makes me love my job. I highly recommend this career,” said Brittany Delane, who works at State Farm in Texas, in a comment on our Facebook post.

“No one ever says, ‘I want to be an insurance agent when I grow up,’ but the truth for me is that I finally found my passion,” said Heidi Shelton, co-owner of NorCal Asset Solutions in California, on LinkedIn. “I have a career and support my family by helping others find products to fit their individual needs and goals. Not only do I provide them peace of mind, but also I can sleep at night knowing I am doing the right thing for my clients."

“Insurance careers offer outstanding training, excellent compensation, and tremendous advancement opportunity!” wrote Rita Hill, an employee at Travelers Insurance based in North Carolina, on our Facebook page. “It is a stable industry that offers meaningful internships for college students as well.”

“Inspiring, influential, infectious, inclusive, innovative, intellectual, intriguing, informative, intuitive, invaluable—these are just a few terms to describe careers in the insurance industry!” said Matthew Maxwell, a claims adjuster at Crawford & Company, on Facebook.

In addition to posting comments on social media, many other professionals wrote personal essays on why they joined the industry, including young professional Laura Peterson’s post for our site and all these great testimonials from our partners at the Casualty Actuarial Society.

“More than a decade later, I still wake up loving what I do because every day is a new adventure,” wrote insurance professional Marie Dulev on SwissRe’s blog, Open Minds.
